Dr Samantha Grams, PT, DPT, CSCS

Hi! My name is Sam, thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

I am the owner and sole practitioner here at The Athlete’s Place.

I started this practice out of my passion to create a space to provide support that honors each client’s individual bodies and goals. I provide care and resources to help you OWN your health and continue to participate in the activities you love.

I consider myself a lifelong mover and strive to support my clients’ and my own athleticism throughout the lifespan.

I also have a passion for volleyball!! I just love the sport and can’t seem to leave it behind. It was through my own injury experiences as an athlete that helped me realize my passion for helping volleyball athletes better recover from injuries and learn how to take ownership over the care of their bodies.

I started my playing career in middle school and played club in high school. From there, I went on to play D1 college ball at Northern Illinois University, to Director of Operations for that same team, ESPN color commentator, club coach, and now, physical therapist.

I received my doctorate in physical therapy also from Northern Illinois University.

I am part of both the orthopedic and sports sections of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as a number of Special Interest Groups.

I have taken part in clinical research involving the volleyball athlete which has enhanced my expertise in treating this population. As a former player and current coach, I have combined this experience and my clinical knowledge to develop a number of services to provide well rounded care for these athletes.

I approach each patient with an open mind and caring heart to work WITH you and create a plan to reach your goals and be able to get back to what is important to YOU. A diagnosis shouldn’t define you, it is just something you are going through. I understand this and I want to empower each of my patients with the knowledge and care to be their best self.
